First Lady
Barbara A. {Milhouse} Butler was born on January 20,
1948 in Aiken, South Carolina to the parents of Joseph
and Josephine Milhouse (who are both deceased). She has
5 siblings: 3 sisters (Claydene, Mary and Delores) and 2
brothers (Willie and Johnny). She completed her
education at A.L. Corbett High School in Wagner, South
Carolina.
After the death of her Mother, First Lady Butler
accepted Christ into her life at the age of 16 at Haden
Baptist Church in Aiken, South Carolina. She later
backslid; but realizing that she needed the 'Presence of
God' in her life, she rededicated her life back to the
Lord in 1982 and have since been "Faithful in His
Service".
On January 25, 1969, the Lord united
Our First Lady and Beloved Pastor, Elder Bobby J. Butler
in Holy Matrimony. During this time, Elder Butler was
serving in the U.S. Army, so Mother Butler took on the
role of "An Army Wife"! The Lord blessed them to have
three children: Angela L. Jackson (married to Michael T.
Jackson), Denise Abram (married to Michael Abram) and
Robert X. Butler (married to Nichola Butler). They also
share 7 grandchildren: 3 granddaughters and 4 grandsons.
In 1985 the Lord sent Elder Butler to the North
Country, and being the "Godly Wife" that she is---Mother
Butler followed the Pastor "willingly". Their
ministerial duties began almost immediately upon
entering the North Country, as they were instrumental in
starting Chapel #2 on Fort Drum, New York. Mother Butler
started the first Usher Board in Chapel #2.
In 1987 they joined the Sweet Haven Holy Church of
God #3 Family. Under the direction of Elder Nathaniel C.
Johnson, Mother Butler was one of the first 3 original
members of the Voices of Sweet Haven Choir; and she
later also served on the Usher Board. She currently
serves as a Missionary, Vice President of the Young
Women's Christian Counsel, member of the Women's Choir,
and head of the Noon Day Prayer.
Mother Butler is a "Child
of God" and a "Virtuous Woman" who demonstrates the
"Will of God" in her everyday living. She works
willingly in support of her family and the church. She
is always willing to listen and assist with any problems
that anyone may have. Whenever you see her, she has a
beautiful smile upon her face and a warm heart that
reaches out to those whom she come in contact with. And
she loves singing Praises unto God!
Mother Butler is a "Praying
Women" and she supports the Pastor in all areas of his
Ministry. She truly is a remarkable, loving and caring
person. She leads by example in showing love to all. She
loves God, she honors His Word, and she is obedient to
His commandments. That is why she holds fast to one of
her many favorite scriptures, when she says,
"I will bless the Lord at all times, and His praises
shall continually be in my mouth." (Psalms 34:1)
Sweet Haven Holy Church of God #3 is
truly blessed to have such a "Godly Woman", as we have
in our First Lady! We thank God for First Lady, Mother
Barbara A. Butler!
